Apology to china, US APOLOGY TO CHINA secured the release of the 24 member crew of the US EP-3 surveillance aircraft. On April 1st. 2001 a US Ep3 Spy Plane was intercepted and collided with a Chinese fighter jet. The severely damaged aircraft was forced to enter China's airspace for an emergency landing on Hainan island. The crew was detained and held hostage for 11 days.
